Job Summary

This position will act as a consultant to various departments within Caterpillar regarding the direction and strategies that key industry leaders will be adopting in the future. Consult with dealers and districts on the subject of aftermarket sales and service support of product to “Global Account” customers. Travel in the field to monitor and resolve issues regarding customer satisfaction and future product needs. Develop an equipment lifecycle plan with customers to forecast aftermarket needs and communicate back to internal partners to ensure appropriate parts availability and minimize customer downtime. Take steps necessary to assure product health in order to maintain and enhance market share growth.
This position makes regular visits to customer headquarters as well as job sites, foreign and domestic, to provide advice and counsel to potential customers. (Global Accountability / Regional Responsibility). Generally requires extensive travel (50%) to understand regional or worldwide business conditions.

What You Will Do:

Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal partners. Identify and establish deep relationships with key business decision makers at designated Global Account customers, particularly Chinese State-Owned Entities (SOEs), targeting key Bureaus and Sites to achieve sales business objectives. Develop a deep understanding of complex customer hierarchy, subsidiaries, operating model, key metrics and equipment ownership strategy to propose aftermarket solutions that align with their enterprise goals. Develop and execute global aftermarket account strategies and establish framework agreements to grow Caterpillar market share with designated Construction Industry Global Accounts. Secure commitment of Caterpillar and Dealer resources to assure continued customer satisfaction. Work on developing and growing relationships across dealers and regions (China/Africa/Middle East) to meet customers diverse global needs at both HQ and site levels.

At this level, incumbent ensures that account decision makers have been fully exposed to the features/ benefits available from Caterpillar products, dealer, and marketing before they finalize purchasing decisions. Must communicate effectively across product, industry, dealer and/or customer audiences to gain understanding and acceptance of ideas and recommendations.

Background/Experience:

Requires a college degree / Bachelors’ or equivalent experience with 8-10 years of specific/similar industry experience in order to gain recognition as a Divisional and company expert.
Should have broad business background, specific long-term industry knowledge, aftermarket product knowledge and excellent communication skills.
Must be able to deal with sensitive issues, mentor and coach, and/or persuade others on new aftermarket solutions, new technology and distribution methods.
The incumbent will either have had previous account management experience and/or aftermarket product experience within the company and/or was a fully contributing member on significant projects and/or teams.

Job Purpose

To drive revenue and growth for the SEM aftermarket solutions business (to incl. parts, service, work tools) in line with industry strategy in the assigned territory, communicated targets and by following established sales processes focused on the end customer. This will be achieved in close collaboration with the respective SEM dealer(s) where the successful incumbent will provide leadership, guidance, and counsel to optimize dealer’ sales force and sales processes effectiveness.

Job Duties Will Include:

Deliver, in collaboration with the SEM dealers, the annual total business plan for the assigned dealer territories.
In collaboration with assigned SEM dealers develop and implement aftermarket solutions industry account plans for assigned high-opportunity customer accounts.
Collaborate with industries to identify customer accounts for growth.
Develop aftermarket solutions growth opportunities & execute approved targeted marketing campaigns.
Optimize parts sales variance utilization within assigned budget to drive incremental top line revenue and deliver business plan.
Drive regular sales performance reviews with dealers and ensure implementation of corrective actions where needed.
Track opportunity, participation and close rates and report VOC/VOD.
Work with the PSLD team to ensure the right part is stocked at the dealership and facing DC.
Seek understanding, document, and communicate internally on customer requirements, business models, competitive landscape and other market intelligence to ensure proper solutions are in place with adequate pricing.
Partner with dealers’ Parts & Service Sales Managers and their PSSR/ISR/Parts Counter organization to influence sales force effectiveness.
Identify and communicate opportunities for improving aftermarket solutions sales management, marketing, and operational capabilities at assigned dealers.
Drive customer connectivity as an enabler to business.
Keep up to date with industry trends, changing technology and market regulations in countries covered.
Manage the T&E budget.
Partner with & influence other internal parties to ensure general customer needs are met for an effective commercial relationship.
Understand Caterpillar’s business model and act within the business process guidance on review and approval for variance programs and commercial actions.
Background / Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in the related field with 5+ years job-related experience OR 5+ years Direct Field Sales experience working for Caterpillar Dealers and/or Customers
5-10 years relevant industry experience
Working knowledge of technology products, financial products, machines, product support, labor relations, safety, and environment operations,
Experience working with /
Industry knowledge (intermediate level)
Intermediate knowledge of customer solutions (parts products, service offerings, solution offerings
